BismilLah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim
As I completed prayers, I searched in my mind the best dzikr to praise ALLAH but I couldn’t think of any except His Name; ALLAH. The only One in existence, there isn’t anything that I can think of that could describe fully the power of His Name.
Then I cried because Malaysia’s High Court Thursday ruled that local Roman Catholics can resume referring to God as Allah in Malay-language publications, specifically the Herald, the weekly Catholic newspaper. I don’t understand how this was even possible.
ALLAH is the name that can only refer to the One Creator; the Sustainer; the Most Merciful; the Most Compassionate. It is disturbing, to say the very least, that ALLAH is and will be used to refer God as the Trinity, Subhana’ALLAH, AstaghfirulLah.
I once rebuked my brother and asked him to turn the TV off because the actor in the drama he was watching, a transvestite, said ‘Ya, ALLAH..!’ is a very disrespectful way. His Name should only be said with fear, in awe, with longing, begging for His Mercy, in praise and in repentance. How can I just stand by and allow His Name to be said disrespectfully..?
I have no objections for non-Muslims to use ALLAH to refer to God but only if it is really GOD in the truest sense i.e. the One, He has no Equal, He did not beget nor was He begotten. Only then, ALLAH’s subhana wa ta’ala Name can be used. I even thought perhaps this situation could be similar to the Treaty of Hudaibiyah, where “If a Quraysh person comes to Muhammad (i.e., after accepting Islam) without the permission of his guardian, Muhammad shall return him to them, but if one of the Muhammad’s people come to the Quraysh, he shall not be returned.”
It was a victory on the side of Islam! Although the Madinans thought it was unfair, but in truth, it helped to increase the number of muslims in Makkah! Perhaps (and ALLAH knows best), through the Christians saying ALLAH, ALLAH on their tongue and in their minds, hidayah might be given to them, Insha’ALLAH. I am reminded of when Adam taught a non-muslim Chinese boy to say ‘BismilLah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim’. Just the act of the boy saying ALLAH on his tongue means that the message of ALLAH had been written in his mind! Insha’ALLAH, let us make du’a for ALLAH to give him knowledge and hidayah when he is older and to return into Islam.
I do not know if my thoughts and views are within what is allowed in Islam and according to the Prophet’s salla ALLAH alayhi wassalam Sunnah; I can only beg for ALLAH’s Mercy and Forgiveness for my weakness.
