‘Read! In the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who Created-‘
(Surah Al Alaq, verse 1, the first Revelation)
Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, my dear brothers and sisters.
Daniel’s mood was a little ‘iffy’ tonight and he wouldn’t tidy up his toys even after I asked him several times. I had to make a choice there and then, start yelling and scolding him for not tidying up or just stay cool and calm. I went for the sensible option; I chose cool and calm.
So, I said to him, ‘I’d rather tidy up your things than scold you’.’ Being a khalifah mum, I said to him, ‘You have to tell me where all these toys go’ as I bent down , picking up his toys. And guess what happened next?
He started to tell me but got up instead and picked up the rest of his toys and followed me to put them back in his bedroom!
Sometimes, as parents, we have to deal with our childrens’ behavior problems using subtle, indirect ways. Using Khalifah Method of Parenting can help us deal with these issues successfully through ‘Kind discipline‘ i.e. with beautiful words and wisdom.
Alhamdulillah, I’m glad he chose to do the right thing in the end. I really hate having the boys go to bed upset and cranky.
