Existing in a Living Earth, Part 2

‘Read! In the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who Created-‘

(Surah Al Alaq, verse 1, the first Revelation)

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, my dear brothers and sisters.

‘Mummy, can I put this in the recycling bin?’ Daniel asked this morning as he carried his juice box to the bin. I showed him the things that he could put in and the things he had to throw in the main bin.

It’s been a week since I finally started a recycling bin in our house. On that first day, as I rummaged through our main bin for plastics, aluminium and glass, the boys walked by and asked, ‘Mummy, WHAT are you doing?’ LOL!

Well, the recycling bin ($8 from IKEA, lined with biodegradable bin liners) is now filled to the top and in a day or two, we will make our way to the nearest recycling centre. I know we are very late in learning to recycle our trash but I hope it will become a lifelong habit for our family, Insha’Allah. Allah Almighty said in Al Quran, Surah Yunus, verse 14, ‘ Then We made you heirs (khalifah) in the land after them, to see how ye would behave!’

I can’t wait to see what Daniel will throw in the recycling bin next…
