Ramadhan Chart Project 2009

Ramadhan Chart 2009

Alhamdulillah, the annual Ramadhan Chart project has entered its 4th year and I’m proud of the work the artist, Maslina has put in. It’s always a great relief to be able to work with people who share the same vision and mindset.

The Ramadhan Chart project began in 2006, it’s purpose was to create excitement and motivation in kids experiencing fasting in the month of Ramadhan. Sponsorships for the printing cost is collected from the community and the charts are given out for free to school children around Malaysia by volunteers . No profit is made from the Ramadhan Chart project.

This year’s theme is centered around the deen of a muslim; constant remembrance of Allah s.w.t., a great love in our hearts for Prophet Muhammad s.a.w., referring to Al Quran for answers to life’s questions and fulfilling our role as khalifah.

Subhanallah, a few minutes after the Ramadhan Chart project was launched (via sms…), I had received a $500 pledge for the printing cost. It’s amazing and humbling to come across such great acts of generosity so unexpectedly. It’s during these times I realise all that is good, comes from the Almighty Allah. I was reminded of a beautiful ayat from Surah Al Baqarah, verse 261: ‘ The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of God is that a grain of corn: it groweth seven ears, and each ear hath a hundred grains. God giveth manifold to whom He pleaseth: and God careth for all and He knoweth all things.’

I have one clear recollection of an incident involving the Ramadhan Chart; I  saw a girl, about 7 years old, proudly carrying her Ramadhan Chart and showing it off to her parents. Maybe I won’t get to see the effect of the Chart on the rest of the kids that get it but I do hope that there is an effect and hopefully, a positive one.
